Puducherry, September 24: In a shocking incident of superstitious belief, an awful murder has been reported in Puducherry where a man murdered his wife after a self-styled godman advised him to do so. The 'godman' promised that this sacrifice would make him rich. The incident came to light when the victim went missing. Based on a complaint, the police officials traced the woman's body on September 19. The accused’s husband lodged an FIR stating that his wife had gone missing.

The police officials recovered the victim's body with lemons, slippers, etc on the spot which led to suspicion of superstitious angle to the case. When the police questioned him, he allegedly admitted to the crime.

Before slitting the victim's throat, the 'godman' performed some prayers, say reports. The weapon used to kill the woman, 40 grams of gold jewellery worn by the victim has been seized by police. The police have arrested the godman and the two co-conspirators with him.
