New Delhi, December 26: Days after Budget carrier GoAir cancelled a number of domestic flights on several routes, the airline on Thursday said the disruption in its services were due to bad weather conditions in North India and the ongoing Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests in the country. According to a tweet by ANI, GoAir spokesperson said the extensive flight delays, diversions leading to cancellations of flights was due to inclement weather in North India.
The official further added saying that it was further exacerbated due to the CAA protests wherein our crew members were unable to report for duty. "Due to inclement weather in North India, GoAir experienced extensive flight delays&diversions leading to cancellations of flights as our crew approached its Flight Duty Time Limits (FDTL) in last 2-3 days", the spokesperson added.
The abrupt cancellations of their flights since Monday caused a lot of inconvenience to passengers. According to reports, GoAir cancelled several flights on Wednesday due to delayed delivery of aircraft and grounding of two planes over maintenance issues, leaving several passengers stranded. On Monday, the airline had cancelled flights 18 flights from Mumbai, Goa, Bengaluru, Delhi, Srinagar, Jammu, Patna, Indore and Kolkata.
Earlier this week, a GoAir spokesperson was quoted by PTI saying that a combination of factors such as inclement weather, low visibility and anti-CAA protests in certain parts of the country have disrupted multiple flights across GoAir's network. The official further added saying that the issue was further aggravated with flight duty time limitations (FDTL) of the crew.
