Guwahati, December 23: Kolkata bound GoAir flight GOW 546 returned to Guwahati Airport minutes after take-off. According to reports, the flight took-off at 11:17 am. Minutes after the take-off, the pilot requested for return to Guwahati due to minor technical problem. The flight landed back at Guwahati Airport at 11:29 am. There were 132 passengers and seven crew members on board. Udaipur-Bengaluru IndiGO Flight 6E 979 Taken Off From Runway After Smoke Detected in Aircraft; All Passengers Safe.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said, “All the passengers and crew members de-boarded safely back to the terminal and Airports Authority of India followed all safety measures. The aircraft is grounded, and the decision is with the concerned airline to fly subject to airworthiness.”
On Sunday also, Chandigarh bound GoAir flight G8-2506 did an air turn back to Mumbai due to a technical glitch. The aircraft, a Pratt and Whitney engine-powered Airbus A320 Neo, made a safe landing at Mumbai airport minutes after its take-off.
In November this year, the DGCA had suspended a GoAir pilot who landed GoAir airline's plane outside the runway in adverse weather conditions. The Airbus A320 commercial jet, which was involved in the incident, was carrying 180 people.
