Goa Maritime Conclave 2019: NSA Ajit Doval Inaugurates 2nd Edition of Summit, Says 'Seas Will be The Most Important Area of Mutual Cooperation Among Nations'
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Friday inaugurated the second edition of Goa Maritime Conclave (GMC) at Naval War College Goa. Indian Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh was also present at the event. Doval said, “Seas are going to be the most important area of nations' mutual cooperation, economic development and tackling possible threats."
Panaji, October 4: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Friday inaugurated the second edition of Goa Maritime Conclave (GMC) at Naval War College, Goa. Indian Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh was also present at the event. Speaking at the event, Doval stressed on the importance of multilateral trade through sea and strategic corporation. Doval said, “Seas are going to be the most important area of nations' mutual cooperation, economic development and tackling possible threats." Ajit Doval's Statement:
Heads of Maritime Agencies of Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Seychelles, Mauritius Singapore and Malaysia also attended the event. The two-day event will conclude on October 5. The focus of the conclave is on capacity building among Indian Ocean Region (IOR) navies to tackle emerging maritime threats, as well as discussing cooperative strategies for enhancing interoperability among partner maritime agencies. The theme the conclave is “The theme for the conclave is "Common Maritime Priorities in Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and need for Regional Maritime Strategy". The first edition of GMC was held in 2017. The conclave will facilitate interaction between the participating navies and maritime agencies in the IOR on common issues of maritime interest.
