Panaji, September 11: A 29-year-old Bihar man in Goa is arrested and booked under the POCSO act for raping a four-year-old European girl. On Tuesday, September 10, the child’s mother approached the police with a formal complaint regarding an incident. The accused has been taken into custody, and authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing.

According to a report by the Times of India, after several trips, the family decided to make Goa their permanent home and relocated to the region two months ago. The four-year-old child had been playing with the daughter of the accused, a construction worker originally from Bihar, near the rented shed where the accused lived with his family. The two families, who live in close proximity within the same neighbourhood, have had regular interactions because their children play together. Following the complaint, the accused has been charged under several provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and the Goa Children’s Act, both of which carry severe penalties for crimes against minors. After being formally booked, the accused was arrested by the Goa police. In a similar incident, A 30-year-old man, Varun Nayyar, was arrested by the North Goa district police on Sunday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old differently-abled girl, according to authorities. The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim's parents at the Porvorim police station.
