Girl Students Forced to Strip at Arunachal Pradesh School in 2017, NHRC Asks State to Pay Rs 5,000 Compensation to Each

Two assistant teachers along with a junior teacher were found responsible for the heinous punishment of forcing 88 students to undress in the school before the other students.

Itanagar, July 3: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the Arunachal Pradesh Government to pay Rs 5,000 each as monetary relief to 88 girl students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Papum Pare district, who were forced to remove their clothes in front of the school as punishment by three teachers for writing derogatory words against a teacher and student in 2017.

The shocking incident had come to light in November 2017 in which it was reported that 88 students of class 6 and class 7 belonging to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Tani Happa in Papum Pare district were humiliated in the name of punishment. The incident occurred on November 23, 2017. The NHRC has now directed the state government to pay Rs 5000 each to every student as "monetary relief":

It is reported that the incident gained widespread outrage on November 27 when the  victim students went with their complaint to the All Sagalee Students Union (ASSU). It was then that an FIR was filed with the local police, after which the administration was moved into action.

It so happened that a piece of paper was found with vulgur words and abuses written in it about the head teacher and a girl student. Two assistant teachers along with a junior teacher were found responsible for the heinous  punishment of forcing 88 students to undress in the school before the other students.
