Ghaziabad, July 26: In a distressing incident in Ghaziabad, two pet dogs were allegedly attacked with a knife by a group of neighbours in the Khoda area. The incident occurred on July 24 at night in the Subhash Nagar locality when the pet owners were at work. The two dogs were rushed to a hospital, where one reportedly received 20 stitches and the other received 18 stitches. After the pet owners filed a complaint, the police registered an FIR. 

A report by the Hindustan Times says both dogs were around two years old. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. while his two daughters, aged 20 and 21, were at home, and the rest of the family was working. The pet owner, Subhash, alleged that a group of neighbours, who frequently objected to the dogs being walked near their house, entered the home while the owner's daughters were present and verbally abused them. Further, he added that the two dogs were attempting to stop the intrusion, one of the neighbours attacked them with a knife. They rushed the two dogs to the hospital, where one received 20 stitches and the other 18. Following this, the case has been filed under sections 333 (house trespass), 352 (intentional insult), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 325 (mischief by harming animals) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as well as the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act at the Khoda police station.
