Mumbai, November 1: In an unfortunate incident in Mumbai, a 61-year-old man died after allegedly falling from the eleventh floor of a building in Ghatkopar West. The deceased has been identified as Manhar Ishwarlal Parmar, a resident of Navi Mumbai. Police officials said that the incident occurred on October 23 when Parmar died after he fell from the 11th floor of the building while fitting LED lights.
According to a report by the Hindustan Times, Parmar was helping an electric contractor who had taken the contract for light fitting in the building when the tragic incident occurred. The incident came to light when Ghatkopar police station officer Amit Pawar received a call from Rajawadi Hospital about a man dying after falling from the 11th floor of a building in Ghatkopar. As per the preliminary report, the incident took place at Crystal Building on Ghatkopar-Andheri Link Road. During the investigation, cops learned that Parmar was not provided with any safety equipment to fit LED lights. A police official said that Parmar, who was a carpenter by profession, was fitting a strip of LED lights when he lost balance and fell to the ground.
The official further said that a man named Rahul Kalyanji, who was present at the spot, immediately rushed Parmar to the Rajawadi hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment. The police also found that no safety belt or helmet was provided to Parmar while he working on the 11th floor. After the incident came to light, the police registered a case under section 106 (causing death by negligence) against the contractor. The police booked Anand Sapant, who took the contract for fitting LED lights, in connection with the incident.
