Indore, August 7: Geeta, the deaf and mute Indian girl, who was brought back from Pakistan in 2015 when late Sushma Swaraj was External Affairs Minister, paid tribute to the veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in a unique manner. Swaraj was instrumental in bringing Geeta back to India after being stuck in Pakistan for 14 years. Geeta is currently staying in a facility run by Muk-Badhir Sangathan, an NGO in Indore. The Madhya Pradesh Social Justice Department is her caretaker. In a video that was shared by ANI, Geeta is seen trying to communicate to people about how what a commendable work the BJP veteran had done during her lifetime.

Swaraj, former External Affairs Minister, died at the AIIMS in Delhi, on Tuesday night following cardiac arrest. She was 67. Her mortal remains were taken to her residence at 6, Jantar Mantar from the AIIMS and were kept at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters. The final journey from the BJP headquarters to Lodhi Road Crematorium, where she would be cremated, will begin at 2.30 pm. Geeta, the speech impaired girl, was reportedly 7 or 8 years old when she was found sitting alone on the Samjhauta Express by Pakistan Rangers at the Lahore station. She was then brought back to India in 2015. According to reports, Karachi-based Edhi Foundation took care of her while she lived in Pakistan.
