Earlier in the days, a report arrived that a Muslim man also was beaten up for refusing to chant slogans like 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'. Reports also arrived that the group of men made him eat pork and chant religious slogans and tore his kurta when he was trying to escape.
Following this, a police complaint was lodged against four youth who intercepted Jakob Pura resident Mohamad Barker Alam at the Sadar Bazar Lane and asked him to remove the traditional skull cap he was wearing.
Police informed that the accused was reportedly drunk and it was a minor altercation. An FIR has been registered under sections of 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 147 (rioting), 149 (a member of unlawful assembly guilty of an offence), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC in the city police station concerned.
