Gautam Gambhir, East Delhi BJP MP, Receives Death Threats From International Number, Demands Security

New Delhi, December 21: Gautam Gambhir, former cricketer and East Delhi BJP MP, on Saturday said that he has been receiving death threats from an international number. The 38-year-old BJP leader has urged the Police to provide him security. In a letter to DCP Shahdara District, Gambhir said that he has been receiving death threats for himself and his family from an international number. "I request you to file an FIR for the same & ensure safety and security to my family", Gambhir was quoted saying by ANI.

On Saturday, the cricketer-turned-politician also lashed out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banarjee expressing his concern over injured cops during violent protests pan India. Taking to Twitter, Gambhir said, "I think all human rights warriors, Bollywood attention seekers and pseudo-liberal journalists have gone to the UN to seek a referendum on whether policemen have human rights or not. Over the death of Unnao woman who was set on fire by her alleged rapists, Gambhir had said earlier this week that the incident was very disheartening and that India had failed as a nation. "Today I feel ashamed as an Indian as we failed a woman, who was first raped then burned brutally by the accused. It is disheartening that we as a nation have failed to save her," Mr Gambhir was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
