Ganpati Visarjan 2018: 30 Cases Registered For Violating Bombay High Court Order on DJ, Dolby Ban
Maharashtra police have registered 30 cases for violating the Bombay High Court's order on the ban of using DJ/Dolby in Ganesha Mandal Visarjan procession.
Maharashtra, September 24: The Maharashtra police have registered 30 cases for violating the Bombay High Court's order on the ban of using DJ/Dolby in Ganesha Mandal Visarjan procession, said Joint Commissioner of Police Shivaji Bodkhe. This comes after the Maharashtra government had imposed a ban on using hi-tech sound amplifying systems such as Dolby and DJ during Ganesha Visarjan and upcoming Navratri festival. Previously, Professional Audio and Lighting Association (PALA) has challenged the ban on DJ and Dolby. But they failed to prove that the music systems can be used without breaching permissible noise limit.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis while supporting the ban said, "Traditional musical instruments are more enjoyable. Loud music causes noise pollution. I think the revelry should not be diminished, but we should also think of environment and traditions."
Speaking to the media after the immersion of Ganesh idol installed in chief minister's residence 'Varsha' in Mumbai, CM Fadnavis said, "Lord Ganesh does not need DJ-Dolby, it has become our need, for our enthusiasm."
The government's ban had created an outrage among the DJs in the city. While refusing to allow any interim relief, the court had asked the Maharashtra government to file a detailed reply to the petition.
