Chandigarh, July 9: Dilpreet Singh Baba who shot Punjabi singer Parmish Verma in Mohali this year has been arrested by the joint team of Chandigarh and Punjab Police  near ISBT bus stand in Sector 43 of Chandigarh earlier today. The entire area has been cordoned off.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has congratulated the Punjab Police for nabbing the gangster. The chief minister has also warned the criminals of strict action for taking law in their hands. Singh tweeted, "Congratulate @PunjabPolice for nabbing another dreaded gangster in Chd today. Dilpreet alias Baba was wanted for numerous offences of murder & attempt to murder, including singer Parmish Verma. Reiterate that anyone who tries to take law into their own hands will not be spared."

In April this year, Baba shot at Punjabi singer and music video director Parmish Verma in Mohali. Verma and his friend were shot at by around five unidentified assailants in Mohali. The gangster through his Facebook post had claimed responsibility for the attack. He wrote, “I Dilpreet Singh Dhahan want to inform you all that I opened fire at Parmish. See how you were trying to hide, but today you were caught.”

Verma is a famous music video director, actor and singer in Punjab music industry. He shot to fame with the foot-tapping number 'Gaal Nahin Kadni'. During the time of the attack, he was travelling with his in a car.  His friend was also injured in the attack.

Baba was also an accused in the murder case of a sarpanch in Chandigarh last year. He is also accused in 15 other cases. He belongs to Dhahan village near Nurpur Bedi in Ropar.
