Gangamma Temple 'Food Poisoning': 1 Dead, 6 Others Fall Ill After Consuming Prasad, Police Launches Probe

Bengaluru, January 26: The police are conducting an investigation into the incident where a woman died and six others fell ill after consuming prasad at Gangamma Temple in Chintamani area of Chikkaballapura district in Karnataka last night. The devotees complained of an upset stomach and many fell seriously ill after consuming the contaminated prasad.

News agency ANI reported that the police also visited the temple to ascertain the cause behind the food contamination. As of now, it seems to be a case of food poisoning, according to reports.

The incident occurred when the devotees had gathered for a pooja at the Maramma temple. Tomato rice was served to the devotees as prasad, but those who ate the food fell sick immediately. An investigation was launched in the case and the news attracted attention for food contamination.
