New Delhi, July 6: The road infrastructure in the state of Uttar Pardesh is all set to get a big boost with a six-lane, 594 Kms long Ganga Expressway. Vehicles will be around to run at a speed of 120 kmph on the expressway which is the highest permissible speed limit in the country. The construction of the e-way will reportedly start in September this year. The ambitious project will enhance the road transportation in the state and ensure better connectivity among various cities across the state.Bangalore-Mysore 10-Lane Expressway Expected To Roll Out Till February 2022.

Several UP districts including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahar, Amroha, Sambhal, and Rai Bareli will reap benefit from the expressway. Being dubbed as the second largest expressway in the country, once the construction is complete, it will begin from N.H 334 in the Meerut district and is proposed to end at Prayagraj district. The construction of the Ganga expressway is expected to complete in a time frame of 26 months with an estimated cost of more than Rs 36,000 crore. Delhi-Meerut Expressway Opens For Public, To Reduce Travel Time Between Two Cities From 3 Hours to Just 45 Minutes.

Here Is All You Need About The Ganga Expressway:

  • It is proposed to begin from NH 334 in Meerut district and end at Prayagraj with two main toll plazas, one at each end. Overall the expressway will have 15 toll plazas.
  • It will be a six-lane expressway with a proposed length of 594 kilometres.
  • The top speed limit of vehicles on the expressway has been set at 120 kmph which is the highest permissible speed limit in the country.
  • The Uttar Pradesh government has reportedly announced that 83 per cent of the land acquisition for the project has been done. The construction of e-way is set to begin in September this year, as per report.
  • The Ganga expressway will be fully access-controlled. The vehicles will only be allowed to enter or exit the expressway through the specific toll plazas.
  • It will provide huge boost to the connectivity in the state with around 519 villages being connected through the expressway. Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahar, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rai Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj will benefit from the same.
  • It is said to reduce the time travel between Delhi and Prayagraj to 6-7 hours from the existing 10-11 hours.

Another prominent feature of the highly ambitious expressway is an airstrip that has been proposed to be constructed on the e-way in Sultanpur district enabling the Indian Air Force to make emergency landings when and as required. The Ganga Expressway project is being undertaken by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority.
