Ganeshotsav 2019: IMD Predicts Rains During Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted more rains in Mumbai from September 3, the day following the start of Ganesh Chaturthi. According to the weather department, the resurgence in the rain will take place due to a weather system which is likely to form on September 3.

Mumbai, August 29: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted more rains in Mumbai from September 3, the day following the start of Ganesh Chaturthi, according to the Times of India report.  Except for the first week of August, rainfall has been subdued for the month. IMD predicts that the resurgence in the rain will take place due to a weather system which is likely to form on September 3.

The rain recorded for the month was  555mm, which is almost 95 percent of the required August rain.IMD has predicted that many parts of Central India, including Maharashtra, parts of the west coast and some eastern parts, will experience substantial rainfall in September. In its previous weather bulletin, the weather agency on August 26 said that the metropolis will not receive heavy rainfall at least for the next four days while light to moderate rain will continue till Thursday.

Due to floods in Maharashtra this year, the Ganpati idol makers have suffered huge losses and their business took a massive hit. While, some smalls idols have been swept away,  the bigger ones have dark spots and rotting bases. Now with IMD predicting rains during Ganeshotsav, it will affect the footfalls in the pandals and will further act as a spoilsport in the excitement of the Mumbaikars to welcome Bappa.
