Mumbai, September 10: Railway authorities have decided to run special trains on the central line of Mumbai local network during intervening hours of September 10 and 11 to accommodate rush of Lord Ganesha devotees. The Central Railway will run six special suburban trains between Kalyan, Thane and Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to avoid any inconvenience to the Mumbaikars during the festive season. Ganesh Chaturthi 2019 Special Trains: Know Schedule, Booking Details of Western Railway Services For Mumbai to-from Konkan and Goa During Ganpati Festival.

The first special train will depart from Kalyan station at 11:55 pm and will reach CSMT at 01:22 am on September 11. The last train towards CSMT will departs from Thane station at 02:00 am on Wednesday. Similarly, the last train will leave CSMT station at 03:30 am on September 11 and will reach Kalyan at 05:00 am.

Konkan also pressed special trains into service to conduct 210 trips ferrying passengers along the Konkan belt during the Ganesh Utsav. Extra ticket booking windows have also been set up at railway stations, and ticket reservation facility has also been extended to 11 designated post offices along the route.

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most popular Hindu festivals and is widely celebrated in the Konkan belt, spanning across Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. The 10-day Ganeshotsav began on September 2, and the festivities will continue till September 12. In Mumbai, public pandals are set up, and Idols of Lord Ganesha are installed. Devotees throng in large number to have a glimpse of their deity. The festival culminates with the immersion of Idols on the 11th day.
