Kolar, September 10: The Ganesh Idol immersion turned tragic for six children in Karnataka. Six kids drowned during the ritual of immersion in Karnataka's Kolar. According to News18 report, seven children went to immerse their handcrafted clay Ganesha idol all by themselves in Marikunte lake. The children hailed from Maradagatti village of Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in Kolar district. The deceased has been identified as Rakshit, Rohit, Vaishnavi, Teja, Veena and Danush. According to reports, the incident came to light when few villagers noticed children drowning and rushed to rescue them. Before they were brought out of the water, they had stopped breathing. They were taken to KGF Government Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

On Saturday, ten persons drowned in two separate incidents during Ganesh idol immersion in Kheda and Aravalli districts of Gujarat. The four people drowned in the Mohar river near Kapadvanj in Kheda district, while six drowned in the Vatrak river at Khadol village in Aravalli.
