Mumbai, July 30: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) today has denied media reports that the authorities would give permission to pandals only 10 days before Ganesh Chaturthi.  The BMC refuted the reports through its tweet. Sarvajanik Ganpati Pandals have to apply online to get permission from the BMC to set up pandals during the festival.

The BMC also tweeted a notice, which states that the mandals can get online permission and they need not seek approval from any other department apart from the BMC. According to the notice, mandals can apply for the permission from today itself and forms for this will be available at ‘www.mcgm.gov.in’. The application for permission will be closed 10 days before the festival.

Earlier, the report published in The Indian Express claimed the BMC would permit sarvajanik mandals to set up pandals on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi only 10 days prior to the festivals. However, the BMC corrected the misconception further tweeting that the mandals could seek permission online and the permissions would be closed 10 days before Ganesh Chaturthi.

However, according to some media reports, the BMC has denied permission to various mandals for setting up pandals. Nine Ganpati mandals in Khetwadi alleged that they have been denied permission. Mandals claimed that they were turned away on the grounds that they failed to secure permission from the BMC last year.
