Gandhinagar, August 12: A 30-year-old Gandhinagar resident reported to the airport police that an acquaintance abused and assaulted him with a brick on Sunday, August 11. The attack allegedly happened after the man disclosed the acquaintance’s smoking habit to his mother. The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment, and a complaint was registered against the acquaintance.
According to a report by the Times of India, the victim, identified as Jayesh Sharma, went to his mother's house on Saturday night. On Sunday, the incident took place when Jayesh went out to smoke with one of his friends. During a conversation with his friend Ayush Jeswani, an acquaintance named Arjun Morandani approached and requested a match to light a cigarette. After smoking, Arjun carelessly tossed the cigarette butt into the parking lot. Later, Ayush’s uncle, Umesh Jeswani, noticed the discarded cigarette and asked Ayush if he was the one who smoked. Jayesh then intervened, explaining that it was Arjun who had smoked, not Ayush. Jayesh later visited Ayush’s house, where he encountered Arjun’s mother. He confided in her about Arjun’s smoking habit and mentioned that he had seen Arjun smoking just hours earlier. Afterwards, Sharma went to the Sardarnagar vegetable market, where Arjun confronted him and began verbally abusing him for telling his mother about his smoking.
Jayesh claimed that Arjun struck him on the head with a brick, causing him to bleed heavily. He was immediately taken to a private hospital, where a medical-legal case was initiated. The airport police registered a complaint against Arjun for voluntarily causing grievous harm with a dangerous weapon and for using abusive language.
