New Delhi, November 10: The prices of petrol and diesel came down for the 20th day in a row on Saturday. The petrol and diesel prices in the national capital Delhi as on Saturday, November 10, stood at Rs 77.89 per litre- decrease by Rs 0.17 and Rs 72.58 per litre- decrease by Rs 0.16, respectively. Petrol and diesel prices in Mumbai are Rs 83.40 per litre- decrease by Rs 0.17 and Rs 76.05- decrease by Rs 0.17, respectively.

This comes after the continued upward trend in fuel prices till October 4, when petrol reached an all-time high of Rs 91.34 in Mumbai and Rs 84 per litre in Delhi. The Diesel had reached Rs 80.10 in Mumbai and Rs 75.45 in Delhi. Later, the Central government intervened into the matter and Union Minister Arun Jaitley announced a rate cut of Rs 2.50 in fuel prices to provide relief to the common man. Excise Duty Cut on Petrol, Diesel to Cost Rs 10,500 Crore, Arun Jaitley Asks States to Reduce VAT on Fuel.

Some of the states also reduced VAT following the central government's price cut which made the fuel prices go down by Rs 5 in some of the states. However, the fuel prices increased on a daily basis. But since last 20 days, the prices of fuel have seen a steep downward turn, resulting into the much-awaited relief for the common man.
