New Delhi, November 14: Indian pilgrims visiting Darbar Sahib Gurdwara, also called Kartarpur Sahib, in Pakistan via the Kartarpur Corridor, will now get free WiFi facility at the historic Dera Baba Nanak railway station. Indian Railways' RailTel, a Miniratna PSU, on Thursday provided RailWire WiFi at the Dera Baba Nanak railway station. RailTel also provided connectivity at the integrated check post for the Kartarpur Corridor project. Guru Nanak Dev 550th Birth Anniversary: Low Turnout of Indian Pilgrims Through Kartarpur Corridor After Passport Made Mandatory.

Indian Railways' RailTel was given a very short period to provide connectivity. Bad weather had also hampered the work for a couple of days. Two 30-meter-tall towers were installed for Radio link to provide seamless connectivity as Dera Baba Nanak is at a distance of 49 km from which repeater had to be provided for connectivity to the farthest or remotest point in Punjab near International Border. 'Humara Sidhu Kidhar Hai': Imran Khan's Video Asking About Navjot Singh Sidhu Before Kartarpur Corridor Inauguration Goes Viral.

The Kartarpur Corridor, which connects Darbar Sahib Dera Baba Nanak in India's Punjab, with Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Pakistan's Narowal district, was thrown open on November 9. The integrated check post facilitates pilgrims to visit the Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib from dawn to dusk without possessing a visa. However, online registration before travelling, carrying a passport and paying a service fee of $20 are must.

The corridor is the first religious link in seven decades between India and Pakistan through here in Gurdaspur district. India signed an agreement with Pakistan on October 24 on the modalities for operationalisation of the 4.2 km-long four-lane Kartarpur Sahib Corridor at the Zero Point on the international boundary.
