Adilabad, May 9: At least three children died and 24 others were hospitalised in the suspected case of foodborne illness or food poisoning in Telangana's Adilabad district on Wednesday. According to reports, a feast was arranged by tribal family on the occasion of a wedding in Kolamguda village of Narnool block on Tuesday night. Some of the guests, ate the left-over food, including left-over mutton curry, on Wednesday morning. Soon after the meal, they started vomiting and complained of severe stomach ache, a two-year-old boy Sidam Ayyu died in a couple of hours after consuming food. After their condition started worsening, they were immediately shifted to Narnoor Primary Health Centre, where, a minor girl Sidam Chinnu Bayi succumbed, reported Hindustan Times. After realising the severity, some patients were shifted to a bigger government hospital in Utnoor, while others to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). By the evening, one-year-old boy Kodapa Supaari also succumbed. The condition of two patients is said to be serious, officials were quoted by Hindustan Times.
Meanwhile, the samples of the food and water have been sent to a laboratory for testing to know the actual cause of food poison. The Police officials, including deputy superintendent of police (DSP) David Yesudas, visited the village and inquired about the incident.
