Bhubaneswar, August 20: A rare species snake was rescued from the possession of a man in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. The snake belonged to the ornate flying species. Odisha police arrested the man from whose possession the reptile was recovered. According to some reports, the man had smuggled the snake from Asansol district of West Bengal. Locals spotted a person with the nearly 2-feet long snake near the railway station after which they informed the police. A police team along with Manchewar range forest officials immediately rushed to the spot after getting the information. The reptile was then handed over to the forest department.  City forest division in-charge said, “It's offence under Wildlife Protection Act. We're investigating. We'll release it in forest."

On Monday, a 12-foot-long python was rescued from Odisha’s Rayagada district. The python entered the house of a resident of Lane no-5 in Gayatri Nagar. The reptile was rescued by an auto-rickshaw driver Pradeep Kumar Senapati. The python was later handed over to Odisha forest department which released it in the forest.
