New Delhi, July 17: Flight Lieutenant, Avani Chaturvedi, one of the first female pilots of the Indian Air Force (IAF) tested a cockpit simulator of the F-21 fighter aircraft in New Delhi on Tuesday. Flt Lt Chaturvedi was part of the team of the IAF pilots who examined the F-21’s Cockpit Demonstration Simulator (CDS). She along with Flt Lt. American defence manufacturer Lockheed Martin is pitching F-21 to the IAF to fulfill force’s requirement of 114 jets. According to a report published in the Economic Times, some of the pilots were happy with the performance of the cockpit simulator, while others called it a mediocre experience. The CDS was examined on the sidelines of the third annual industry supplier conference hosted by Lockheed Martin and Tata Advanced Systems. The event was organised to strengthen India-US defence industrial ties and Make in India partnerships. “Lockheed Martin is fully committed to meeting India’s need for advanced, scalable defence capabilities,” reported ET quoting Vivek Lall, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.

Lall also assured that 130 different types of weapons can be integrated into F-21. Earlier in February this year, during the Aero-India 2019 which was held in Bengaluru, Lockheed Martin unveiled F-21 aircraft.
