Mumbai, December 20: A fire broke out on Wednesday night at the Trident Hotel, located in Mumbai's Nariman Point. The blaze was categorised as "Level 2", indicating a moderate intensity blaze. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and efforts to douse off the flames were underway by the time this report was published. Police team has also been deployed to safely evacuate people in case of emergency.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the fire, officials confirmed. The blaze erupted in basement of the hotel, they said, adding that the flames later spread to showrooms on the ground floor. Massive Fire Erupts in Matunga Slums of Mumbai, Six Fire Tenders Reach Spot.
Another official, while speaking to reporters, said no hotel employee or customer has been trapped in the fire. He further added that flames were expected to be overcome in the next few minutes.

Two days ago, on Monday, a massive fire at the ESIC Kamgar Hospital in Andheri had claimed 8 lives and left at least 157 injured. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has initiated a probe into the incident.
Expressing sorrow over the fatal accident at the state-owned hospital, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Santosh Gangwar, announced Rs 10 lakh compensation to the kin of deceased, and Rs 2 lakh to those left seriously injured.
