Fire at ONGC Plant in Navi Mumbai: 4 Dead After Massive Blaze Engulfs Oil Processing Plant in Uran

As soon as the incident was reported, fire tenders reached at the spot. No casualties have been reported so far. According to a report by TOI, three workers have sustained burn injuries in the blaze and have been admitted to a private hospital.

Mumbai, September 3:  At least four people were killed and several injured after a massive fire broke out at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation's (ONGC) plant in Navi Mumbai area of Maharashtra on Tuesday. According to a reports, the massive blaze erupted around 6.30 am in the gas processing plant of the ONGC in Uran area. According to a tweet by ANI, the blaze broke out in storm water drainage of the oil plant. The fire has been successfully doused by fire-fighting team. As soon as the incident was reported, fire tenders reached at the spot. According to details by Police, several employees were working inside the plant during the early hours on Tuesday when the fire broke out. "Two persons have been killed in the mishap," Navi Mumbai's Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar told PTI. Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the ONGC informed that a a massive fire broke out in storm water drainage on Tuesday morning and crisis management team immediately pressed into action. The ONGC complex processes all the gas, which gets produced at Bombay High oil fields.

Fire is being contained. No impact on Oil processing. Gas diverted to Hazira Plant. Situation is being assessed”, ONGC tweeted.

According to reports, fire tenders from ONGC, Dronagiri, JNPT, Panvel and Nerul have been engaged in the firefighting operation. The Uran police have cordoned off the area at a distance of 2 km.
