Lucknow, August 26: The Uttar Pradesh police recently solved a kidnapping case by rescuing a 17-year-old boy who planned his kidnapping in Fatehpur. Police officials said that the teenager concocted his own kidnapping story and sought INR 10 lakh ransom from his family members. The incident came to light after the boy's father, a resident of Hasnapursani lodged a police complaint about his son being kidnapped.

Teenager Stages His Own Kidnapping

On Saturday, August 24, the complainant dialled 112 and complained about his minor son's kidnapping, reports TOI. Interestingly, the news of the boy being kidnapped had also surfaced on social media. Acting on the complaint, the police launched a probe to rescue the child and solve the kidnapping case. Why Did the 17-Year-Old Boy Staged His Kidnapping?

Cops said that the teenager used to chat with a local girl on the photo and video-sharing platform Instagram. However, when the family members of the girl learned about the two exchanging messages, they approached the boy's family and asked him to mend his ways. Post this, the boy concocted the kidnapping story to save himself from his family members' anger.

The teenager called up his family members and demanded INR 10 lakh ransom for his release. After calling his father from his mobile phone, the accused teenager switched off the phone. In a separate incident, the Pratapgarh police on July 16 arrested a man identified as Dr Ashish Kumar (42) for raping a woman. The accused was arrested near Highway Canal Road when he was planning to escape. Cops said that the victim's father had lodged an FIR against the accused doctor.
