New Delhi, January 7: The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Tuesday informed that they have directed the removal of all the speed breakers or rumble strips constructed at toll plazas with immediate effect for smooth vehicular movement. The latest move comes days after the effective implementation of FASTag on toll plazas and conversion of cash toll lanes to FASTag lanes.

Making an announcement about the same, the Union Ministry said, as quoted by news agency ANI, "With the effective implementation of FASTag on toll plazas and conversion of cash toll lanes to FASTag lanes, the speed breakers/rumble strips constructed at toll plazas are being removed with immediate effect for smooth vehicular movement." Earlier on Monday, a fake news were doing rounds in social media which claimed that vehicles with MH 12 and MH 14 passing numbers will not have to pay toll-tax from January 7 at Khed-Shivapur toll-naka in Pune. In the last week, a report regarding the FASTags issuance arrived, in which it was informed that over 1.15 crore FASTags have been issued so far, and more than one lakh are being issued every day since the implementation of electronic toll collection from December 15. It had also said that the daily worth of electronic toll collection has crossed Rs 52 crore with the transaction number crossing 30 lakh.
