Bhopal, December 31: A farmer from a village in Madhya Pradesh broke down and fell to the feet of the newly appointed Collector of his district asking for a small power transformer in his field. According to a tweet by ANI, the farmer alleged that there was a delay in getting electricity supply to power his field pumps and pleaded to Collector Anugrah P seeking her intervention for installation of a new transformer in his village. According to a 1.03-minute video by ANI, the farmer identified as Ajit Jatav is seen falling at the feet of the district collector while a police officer tries to listen to the farmer while they walk out of office. In the video that went viral, the policeman is seen lifting the farmer while the district collector gets inside a waiting car.

According to a report by NDTV, the farmer said that he has been after the district administration to give him a small power transformer in his field, after he paid Rs. 40,000 in August last year to run a high-power pump. However, no action has been taken in regards to the delay. However, the district collector Anugrah P was quoted in the report saying that the delay is not on purpose as it takes six months for installation of the pump after applying for it. He said, the farmer had applied in August and there were others in the waiting list.
