Faridkot on High Alert After Gurmeet Ram Rahim's Close Aide Killed in Nabha Jail, Dera Sacha Sauda Followers Threaten to Hold Protest
A high alert has been issued in Punjab’s Faridkot district on Monday following the death of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s close aide Mohinder Singh Bittoo in Nabha jail. Deputy Commissioner of Police of the district has written a warning letter to all the departments.
Faridkot, June 4: A high alert has been issued in Punjab’s Faridkot district on Monday following the death of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s close aide Mohinder Pal Singh Bittoo in Nabha jail. Deputy Commissioner of Police of the district has written a letter to all the departments especially hospitals stating that Dera followers could gather in protest of Bittoo’s death, reported Times Now. Security has also been tightened outside hospitals. Meanwhile, Dera followers have also warned the Punjab government of not holding the cremation ceremony of Bittoo without getting an assurance of justice. From the last two day, Dera followers are demanding that all the sacrilege cases against them should be taken back.

Bittoo was killed by two inmates in Patiala's Nabha jail on Saturday. He was the main accused in the Bargari sacrilege cases. After the attack, Bittoo was taken to a hospital in a serious condition where he was declared brought dead.
One of the accused who attacked Bittoo was identified as Gursewak Singh. However, the exact cause of the murder is not yet known. Bittoo was among 150 Dera followers, who were booked by the Panchkula Police for violence which took place after Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim was convicted for raping two of his followers in August 2017.
