Fake Ticket Racket Busted in UP State Road Transport Corporation; STF Makes Arrests

According to the STF, the fake ticket scam has been allegedly going on for a decade, resulting in huge losses to the corporation and state government.

Lucknow, August 25: The Special Task Force (STF) team is investigating several officers at the UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) headquarters in Lucknow, for their alleged involvement in the sale of fake tickets in the state transport buses. According to a report in English daily The Hindustan Times, fake tickets were sold to commuters on the buses plying on Aligarh-Mathura route.

The STF busted the 'Fake-Ticket' racket on Wednesday. According to the STF, the fake ticket scam has been allegedly going on for a decade, resulting in huge losses to the corporation and state government.

About a dozen of employees were arrested by the STF on Wednesday and it is based on their statements that the STF informed about the alleged racket looting the corporation for more than a decade.

The UPSRTC managing director transport commissioner P Guruprasad was quoted saying by the report that the corporation asked the STF to probe the officers in the headqaurters of the UPSRTC in Lucknow. He also said that the role of regional managers, assistant managers, checking squads are already under the scanner in connection to the fake ticket racket.

According to the report, the STF had put the cellphones of the officers in the headquarters as well as those on the field on surveillance. After getting the go-ahead by commissioner P Guruprasad, the STF launched its operation on Wednesday and made the arrests.
