Mumbai, November 4: Six people have been arrested for robbing a cash delivery boy of Rs 15. 8 Lakh in Thane. The alleged accused posed as officials of crime branch staff and snatched the money from the victim-identified as 27-year-old Naresh Patel, reported Hindustan Times. Police have arrested them and recovered Rs 8.8 lakh from the culprits. The accused were identified as Vikas Ghag, Jayesh Sawant, Gautam Shah, Pravin Bhai, Dipak Maharana, and Manoj Vishwakarma. Vikas who is gym trainer posed as a police officer from the crime branch.

The incident took place on October 26, when Patel collected cash from vendors in Bhiwandi. After collecting the money he was returning to Thane on his bike when Vikas and Sawant stopped him near the highway and asked him to show his license. Later the duo asked him to accompany them to the police station and they didn't allow him to make calls. While taking Patel to a police station, the accused alerted their four friends who came near Kharegaon toll Naka. The victim was asked to hand over his bag to their friends who posed as police constables. According to the report, all the accused fled from the spot after taking the bag.

Patel alerted the courier company he was working for, who later filed a police complaint. After registering the complaint, the police carried out investigations and searched more than 1,500 vehicles from CCTV footages. The main accused Sawant and Vikas were arrested from Kalwa on Friday. After the further investigations, police arrested the other four accused. All the culprits are in police custody and booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
