F-16 Was Used By Pakistan, IAF Displays AMRAAM Missile Part As Proof; All About The Evidence Presented by India (See Photos And Video)

New Delhi, February 28: Indian Air Force (IAF) on Thursday showed evidence to reporters during a joint press briefing of three service wings of the country that Pakistan used F-16 fighter jet to violated the Indian air space on February 27. The IAF showed a cover of AMRAAM missile fired from Pakistani F-16 aircraft which was shot down by IAF's Mig 21 Bison fighter jet. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Pakistan denied that they used F-16 jet to violate the Indian air space. Joint press briefing of tri-service wing:

Briefing the media, Air Vice Marshal Ravi Kapoor said, "There is enough evidence to show that F-16s were used in this mission through their electronic signatures. Parts of AMRAAM, air to air missile which is carried only on the Pakistani F-16s was recovered east of Rajouri within the Indian territory."

He further added that one Pakistani F-16 was shot down by an IAF MiG 21 Bison Aircraft. The IAF officer also said that the force is happy that Wing Commander Abhinandan is returning the day after. While answering a question on air strikes Air Vice Marshal Kapoor said that it is premature to say the number of casualties on the camp, whatever we intended to destroy we got that result.

All About AMRAAM:

Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM), is a modern American beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile. It is capable of all-weather day-and-night operations. The missile is designed with a 7-inch diameter and can employ active transmit-receive radar guidance instead of semi-active receive-only radar guidance. It is a fire and forget missile.

The missile is capable of carrying 18.1kg high-explosive blast fragmentation and has a range of 40-50 kilometre. In early 2006, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) ordered 500 AIM-120C-5 AMRAAM missiles as part of a $650 million F-16 ammunition deal to equip its F-16C/D Block 50/52+ and F-16A/B Block 15 MLU fighters. Currently, the missile is procured by 37 countries.

Highlights of joint media briefing:

On February 26, the IAF destroyed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror camp in Pakistan's Balakot. A day after the IAF's air strikes on JeM launchpads the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) violated the Indian air space and dropped bombs near a Brigade headquarter in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

How India's Mig-21 Bison shot down Advanced F-16 fighter jet:

Indian fighter jets intercepted the PAF aggression. In the ensuing battle, one Pakistan's F-16 fighter jet was shot down. In the engagement, India also lost its Mig-21 Bison warplane. Pakistan authorities captured an IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Vartharaman after his fighter jet crashed in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). However, earlier today, Pakistan announced to release the IAF pilot on Friday.
