Encounter Underway Between Security Forces and Terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kupwara, One Personnel Martyred, Another Injured

According to reports, Army sources said the security personnel who has been martyred is an army commando and has been identified as Sepoy Mukul Meena. Officials informed an operation was launched in the forest area on Tuesday following information about a group of terrorists hiding there.

Jammu, July 11:  At least one security personnel has been martyred and one other has been critically injured in a gunfight between security forces and terrorists on Wednesday. According to reports, an encounter broke out in Sadu Ganga forest area of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter is still underway.

According to reports, Army sources said the security personnel who has been martyred is an army commando and has been identified as Sepoy Mukul Meena.  Officials informed an operation was launched in the forest area on Tuesday following information about a group of terrorists hiding there.

On Tuesday, two militants were gunned down and two soldiers were injured in a gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. The two militants were killed after they opened fire on security forces, triggering a gun battle. One of the two terrorists killed in Kashmir's Shopian on Tuesday has been identified as Babar, a JeM commander of Pakistan origin, the Jammu and Kashmir Police informed.

Reports inform that a young man was also killed in protests while a man died of shock after being misinformed that his son was trapped there. Police informed that some 20 civilian protesters were also injured in Kundalan village as people poured out of their homes to try foil the security operation, forcing security personnel to fire tear gas and pellet gunshots.
