Encephalitis Outbreak in Bihar: Nitish Kumar Loses Cool at Reporters as Death Toll Continues to Raise
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday lost his temperament on media when asked about the deaths due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome in the state. During the nomination process in the room of the Vidhan Sabha Secretary, Kumar asked the journalists have they lost their Maryada (decorum). He said that it's not right to stand behind the Secretary. Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) has tormented over 600 children across 16 districts of the stated of which 124 have lost their lives. 104 deaths were reported at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) and 20 deaths at Kejriwal hospital. Muzaffarpur is the most affected with 117 deaths so far.
Earlier, when Nitish Kumar visited Muzaffarpur's SKMCH, he was greeted with protests. Angered locals raised slogans like 'Nitish Go Back', 'Nitish paltu CM', and 'Nitish Hai Hai'. The Bihar CM, shielded by armed officials, reportedly didn't speak to the relatives of patients and left the hospital within minutes.
