Delhi, December 23: The Delhi government on Monday announced the Electric Vehicle Policy which aims to fight air pollution by promoting the use of electric vehicles. The government will also provide subsidy to promote e-vehicles, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, adding that an electric vehicles board would be formed to implement the policy. "Due to Delhi govt Electric Vehicle Policy around five lakh electric vehicles will be registered in the national capital in the next five years. It will result in saving Rs 6000 crore fuel expenditure. The aim of this policy is to make Delhi the Electric Vehicle Capital of India," Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief said.

The electric vehicles would mostly include commercial vehicles and two-wheelers. In the coming years, electric vehicles are expected to revolutionize the automobile industry across the world.
