Jaipur, Sep 16: Ahead of his Rajasthan visit, Election Commissioner Sunil Arora's bag was allegedly stolen at Jaipur Airport on Sunday. According to a tweet by ANI, Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora reached the airport to take a stock of the situation. The latest update by ANI informed that bag has now been found which had been mistakenly kept in a car different from the one he was riding in.

The incident comes when three Election Commissioners- Om Prakash Rawat, Sunil Arora and Ashok Lawasa, are making a two-day tour to Rajasthan on September 17-18 to monitor the preparations in the state for the forthcoming Assembly elections.

The assembly polls in the state are due later this year. Arora, a former bureaucrat was appointed Election Commissioner in August 2017 after Nasim Zaidi retired as Chief Election Commissioner in July that year. While Achal Kumar Joti is the CEC, Om Prakash Rawat is the other Election Commissioner.

Preparations for assembly elections in the state have stated in full swing. According to a report by IANS, a total of 1,05,299 duplicate/fake voters appeared in Jaipur’s electoral rolls and all these have been deleted, district collector Siddharth Mahajan on Saturday. Reports inform that the number of fake voter figure is 24,197 in Ajmer, 24,053 in Alwar, 32,886 in Banswara, 13,211 in Bara and 128 in Barmer, which have been deleted.
