Election Commission Releases Notification for First Phase of Lok Sabha Polls 2019

The Election Commission on Monday released the notification for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls, mentioning the minutes of the dates, time and place for filing the nomination by candidates

New Delhi, March 18: The Election Commission on Monday released the notification for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls, mentioning the minutes of the dates, time and place for filing the nomination by candidates either contesting from the party or as an individual. The EC also notified the timing for elections for first phase in various constituencies on April 11.

According to the release, the candidates have the time to fill their nominations till March 25, while the scrutiny will take place on March 26. The Election Commission further made it clear again that those candidates wanting to withdraw their nominations will have to do it by March 28.  Lok Sabha Elections 2019 Schedule: Voting In 7 Phases From April 11 to May 19, Counting And Results On May 23; Check All Dates For General Elections.

The polling would be held for 91 Lok Sabha constituencies in 20 states and Union territories. The States include – Andhra Pradesh (25 parliamentary constituencies), Arunachal Pradesh (2), Assam (5), Bihar (4), Chhattisgarh (1), Jammu and Kashmir (2), Maharashtra (7), Manipur (1), Meghalaya (2), Mizoram (1), Nagaland (1), Odisha (4), Sikkim (1), Telangana (17), Tripura (1), Uttar Pradesh (8), Uttarakhand (5), West Bengal (2), Andaman (1) and Lakshadweep (1).

The EC has also announced that the polling will take place from 7 am to 6 pm in various constituencies, however, the polling time has been deducted by an hour in sensitive areas and by two hours in extra sensitive areas. The results would be announced on May 23.
