Kolkata, April 5: Just a week ahead of First Phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019, the apex poll conducting body transferred Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma and Bidhannagar Police Commissioner Gyanwant Singh on Friday night, citing changes in the poll preparedness.

According to the new information disseminated by the West Bengal Chief Secretary, the Election Commission has made Pollution Control Board’s ADG – Dr Rajesh Kumar – as the new Kolkata top cop, while appointed ADG and IGP (Operations) – Natarajan Ramesh Babu – as Bidhannagar police commissioner. Niti Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar 'Violated MCC', says the Election Commission.

The official letter issued by the EC also named DC (Airport Division) of Bidhannagar – Avannu Ravindranath – as the new superintendent of police of Birbhum and 3rd Battalion’s DC KAP – Srihari Pandey – as the superintendent of police of Diamond Harbour. The EC informed about the change in transfers/postings of few officers in the state in view of the poll preparedness.
