New Delhi, December 20: An earthquake of 6.4 magnitude on Richter Scale hit Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan on Friday at 5:09 pm. Tremors were also felt in northern India including Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. According to the National Center for Seismology, the tremors were centered 246 km north of Kabul and 190 km beneath the earth's surface. Earthquake Tremors of 5.2 Magnitude Felt in Delhi-NCR, Lucknow, Other Parts of North India; Epicentre in Nepal.

Till now, there were no reports of any collateral damage of casualty in the earthquake. The worst impact of the tremors are expected to be felt in Pakistan. Afghanistan and Uzbekistan region, which fall under the closest vicinity of Hindu Kush mountains.  More details are still awaited.

In February this year also, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Hindu Kush. The epicentre of that earthquake was north of Kabul at the depth of the earthquake was 212 km.
