Earthquake of Magnitude 4.6 Jolts Delhi-NCR, Tremors Felt in Neighbouring States
Reports inform that the quake struck several places in India following a 4.6-magnitude earthquake in Tajikistan on Wednesday morning.
New Delhi, February 20: An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 on the Richter Scale hit the Delhi-NCR region on Wednesday. According to reports, the quake struck the region at around 8 am and strong tremors were felt across the national capital and its neighbouring regions. Reports inform that the quake struck several places in India following a 4.6-magnitude earthquake in Tajikistan on Wednesday morning. No casualties or damage to property has been reported so far.
The tremors were also felt in several north Indian states including Uttar Pradesh and parts of Kashmir. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) informed that an earthquake of magnitude 4.0 strikes 44 km southwest of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake originated in Kofarnihon, Tajikistan at a depth of 10 km on Wednesday morning. According to reports, an earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter Scale hit Bagpat in Uttar Pradesh.

On Monday, a quake of magnitude 4.2 jolted Jammu and Kashmir around 4:25 am with mild tremors being felt at several areas across the state. According to the US Geological Survey, the epicentre was 10 km below sea level and the quake struck about 609 km away from Chennai. Residents in Chennai felt the tremors and took to social media social media that they felt tremors in several parts.
