Imphal, April 4: An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 hit the North-East state of Manipur. According to reports, the tremors were felt at 1:15 pm. The epicentre of the quake was in Manipur's Senapati district. Till now, no casualties and collateral damage have been reported. More details are awaited. All districts of the state of Manipur lie in Zone V.
Meanwhile, a series of medium intensity earthquakes struck the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on April 1. In a span of two hours, the region witnessed nine earthquakes with a magnitude ranging from 4.7 to 5.2, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). A similar situation was witnessed in Maharashtra's Palghar in February. Residents of Palghar experienced mild tremors thrice in a day on February 20. Palghar district has witnessed over 45 earthquakes since November last year.
