New Delhi, September 24: A strong earthquake hit Delhi-NCR region on Tuesday at around 4.40 pm. According to initial reports, strong tremors were felt in the national capital and its surrounding areas along with neighbouring states including Punjab, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. According to European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), earthquake of magnitude 6.1 at Richter scale struck 173 km North West of Lahore in Pakistan.

A latest update by ANI, a strong quake of magnitude 6.3 hit Pakistan - India (J&K) Border region. No injuries, causalities or loss of property have been reported after the jolts. According to reports, tremors were also felt in Jammu and Kashmir. Several media reports claim that tremors were also felt in Pakistan.

Earlier this month, Himachal Pradesh has witnessed five earthquakes in the Chamba district in just 24 hours. The first earthquake was recorded on the borders while the second was recorded on the same day around midnight.

According to a report by ANI, there were three earthquakes of the magnitudes measuring 5.0, 3.8 and 2.5, which were measured in less than an hour. Majority of these quakes had their epicentre in area of Chamba district which shares the border with Jammu and Kashmir as it falls under Zone 5 of the seismic zone.
