Itanagar, July 19: An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 on the Richter Scale hit the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday. According to a tweet by ANI, the quake tremors were also felt in neighboring state Assam. According to reports, the epicentre of the earthquake was located in East Kameng, which is about 100 kilometres northwest of Itanagar, 61 kilometres northeast of Bomdila and 315 kilometres east of Thimpu in Bhutan. So far, there was no report of any damage from anywhere in the northeast.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located in East Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh  (27.4231° N, 93.0176° E). According to initial information, the jolt was felt at around 2.51 PM on Friday afternoon. In Assam, the quake was felt in Guwahati and others parts of Assam and other northeastern states.

On July 13, an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 on the Richter scale struck the Ukhrul region in Manipur.  According to a tweet by ANI, the quake hit the region around 8:39 PM.
