Dussehra 2023: Ahmedabad Residents Celebrate Festival With 17 Lakh Kg of Fafda-Jalebi Worth Rs 175 Crore

Ahmedabad, October 26: People in Ahmedabad hava taken their love for Fafda and Jalebi to next level this Dussehra 2023. Residents of the city lined up outside the local farsan stores to buy Fafda and Jalebi as the consumers in the capital city of Gujarat consumed more than 8.5 lakh kg of each dish to mark the festival of Dussehra. According to market insiders, the city residents spent a whopping Rs 175 crore on fafda and jalebi this Dussehra.
According to a report in TOI, prices were higher by up as much as 10% due to price rise in besan and edible oil. While Fafda was priced between Rs 750 to Rs 1,300 per kg, jalebi’s prices rose from Rs 900 to Rs 1,000 per kg compared to the previous year. The huge demand lead to long queues in front of the shops. Due to high demand some shop owners were also giving out tokens to consumers. A resident said “When I visited our regular farsan shop in Jodhpur around 10am, the owner advised me to take a token and return after about three hours. He suggested I start from home only after he called me to collect the fafda-jalebi parcel.”
The long queues had discouraged some customers from visiting the stores, leading to a shift towards ordering through app-based food delivery platforms.
