Kolkata, October 2: People in the city might have to celebrate their Durga Puja in the middle of rainfall if the IMD prediction comes true. The weather department has predicted 'light sporadic' rains on Saptami (Saturday) and Ashtami (Sunday). For Navami (Monday) and Dashami (Tuesday), IMD has predicted heavy showers, due to a low-pressure trough. Kolkata Durga Pujo Clubs Take Measures Like Constructing Rain Proof Planks to Prevent Pandal Hoppers From Stepping into Puddles.

This obviously doesn't come as good news for both the pandal hoppers as well as the Puja Committee organisers. Rains may act as a spoilsport and that may affect the footfall in the pandals. The Pujo committee members have been preparing themselves with all the arrangements to deal with the unpleasant guest which may appear at that time. From arranging wooden planks to keeping sand ready, every attempt is being taken to ensure the experience of the pandal hoppers doesn't get mar.

The weather department predicts that though there is a probability of heavy showers on the last two days, they will not extend beyond 60 to 90 minutes. The official monsoon in Kolkata will end on October 15, so there is still time for the monsoon to depart from the city.
