DRDO Successfully Test-Fires Man-Portable Anti Tank Guided Missile System in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool, Watch Video
This is the third series of successful testing of MPATGM. The missile is incorporated with state-of-the-art Infrared Imaging Seeker along with advanced avionics. The test paves the way for the Army to have developed third generation man portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile indigenously.
New Delhi, September 11: The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully test-fired the Man-Portable Anti Tank Guided Missile System (MPATGM) in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool. The indigenously developed weapon system will further strengthen India's counter-attack arsenal. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO on the successful execution of the test-fire.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) issued a statement, claiming that all the objectives of the mission were met successfully. "The DRDO today successfully flight tested indigenously developed low weight, fire and forget Man Portable Antitank Guided Missile (MPATGM) in the ranges of Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh," said the statement issued by the MoD. "The missile was launched from a man portable Tripod launcher and the target was mimicking a functional tank. The missile hit the target in top attack mode and destroyed it with precision. All the mission objectives were met," the Defence Ministry statement added.
