Dr. Neha Shoree, Punjab FDA Drug Inspector Shot Dead in Cold Blood by Chemist Whose License Was Cancelled by Her; Gets Tribute by Twitterati

The accused chemist has reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself, after killing Dr Neha Shoree.

In a shocking case, Neha Shoree, an employee for Punjab government’s Food and Drugs Administration, was shot down in cold blood by the owner of a pharmacy Balwinder Singh, a resident of Morinda, whose license she had cancelled in 2009 after a raid. She was found dead at her office in Kharar on Friday and her murder is being investigated by order. Dr Neha Shoree was posted at a government-run Drug & Food Chemical laboratory in Kharar as the zonal licensing authority. The state GDP has been directed to have a speedy inquiry about the murder and the CM has ordered a prompt investigation into the matter.

The accused chemist who had reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself, after killing Dr Neha Shoree. The CM reportedly said that "no one would be allowed to interfere or intimidate any public servant in the discharge of their duties," as per the Statesman. The shooter owned a licensed revolver that he used to kill Dr Shoree. According to the reports he shot Dr Shoree in two rounds and was grabbed while he was trying to run away, however, before that he shot himself. Balwinder Singh ran a chemist shop in Ropar and in regards to some unauthorised drugs that was found in his store, his licence was cancelled by Dr Shoree in the year 2009.

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has expressed his shock via Twitter where he wrote: "The murder of Neha Shoree, a valiant officer of the FDA has left us all in great shock. I have directed @DGPPunjabPolice to ensure a speedy probe so that we can get to the bottom of this case and bring the culprits to justice."

Punjab is dealing with a scary drug problem and the condition is only wosening. The chemist was allegedly found having illegal drugs in-store and therefore was nabbed the FDA officer. The death of such a valiant officer is alarming and strong steps should be taken against it.
