Gujarat, May 19: In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old man, previously accused of killing his brother, was found murdered in Fachariya village, Bhavnagar district. The police have arrested their maternal uncle for the double murder. The uncle killed his two nephews as he suspected one of them of having an affair with his wife.

On May 15, the body of Zina Rathwa (21) was discovered on a farm on the outskirts of Fachariya village in Gariyadhar taluka. Zina had been working there as a farm laborer along with his brother Deepak (23), Deepak’s wife, their maternal uncle Dilip Bamaniya, and his wife Champa. Upon discovering the body, Vaghani was informed by Champa that Dilip had killed Zina, suspecting him of having an affair with her. She also claimed to have seen Deepak fighting with Zina and that Dilip had intervened and killed Zina. On Friday night, police exhumed Deepak’s decomposed body at a location not far from where his brother had been found.

N J Vinjuda, the police sub-inspector of Gariyadhar, told TOI: “During the investigation, we noticed that Deepak’s wife had also disappeared, raising our suspicion of Deepak's involvement in Zina’s murder. We searched Dabhoi and Chhota Udepur for the couple, but Deepak was missing. However, we apprehended Dilip, who confessed to killing Deepak and burying his body.” Deepak’s wife had fled to Dabhoi, fearing for her life.

Dilip admitted to the police that he killed Deepak after witnessing him murder Zina. Dilip allegedly used pipes and sticks to brutally beat both brothers to death.

The brothers were natives of Chhota Udepur, while Dilip hailed from Alirajpur in Madhya Pradesh.
